'Snakes' ready to rattle B.O.
08/17/06After over six months of parody trailers, blog debates and mainstream press articles about the online hype, New Line will find out what it all means for the bottom line as "Snakes on a Plane" opens this weekend. Pic is tracking like a normal late-summer horror film, which would indicate a bow in the high teens. But studio is hoping all the hype and buzz could translate into something much bigger, possibly as high as the 30s. Main competition this weekend is Universal's slacker comedy "Accepted," which is also going after a teenage aud but has the benefit of a PG-13 rating vs. an R for "Snakes."
