In the last weekend before a blockbuster-filled end of the year, Par's "Aeon Flux" is the only wide opener this weekend, hitting 2,608 playdates. Pic, which cancelled its review screenings, will mix it up with the third week of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and the surprisingly leggy "Walk the Line." Starting next week, however, it's one blockbuster after another. Disney and Walden's "The Chronicles of Narnia" bows Dec. 9, followed by Universal's "King Kong" on Dec. 16 and several big pics over the Christmas weekend.

Paramount's decided to go the no-review route for its sci-fi actioner "Aeon Flux." Studio has quietly canceled review screenings of "Aeon," starring Charlize Theron as an acrobatic rebel leader, over the past week. The pic, based on an animated 1996 MTV cable series, opens Friday domestically with about 2,500 playdates. Move to pull the plug on critic showings is somewhat unusual for a relatively high-profile pic. Sources say studio execs believe "Aeon" is tracking well among its core audience and sees little upside to be gained from advance reviews, given the usual critical reaction to sci-fi fare.

Aeon Flux" will roll again on Monday, after Paramount and MTV were forced to shut down production on Aug. 31due to an injury suffered by Charlize Theron while on a trampoline on the Berlin set.

Production on "Aeon Flux" will be shut down for several weeks due to injuries sustained by star Charlize Theron during shooting in Berlin.

Frances McDormand will co-star with Charlize Theron in Paramount Pictures' bigscreen live-action adaptation of the futuristic MTV toon series "Aeon Flux." McDormand will portray the Handler in the movie. Shooting is slated to begin in August in Berlin for a 2005 release.

Charlize Theron will earn $10 million to star in "Aeon Flux," a career-best. Theron's performance in "Monster" has led to multiple offers to carry studio films.

Girlfight" writer-director Karyn Kusama is the leading candidate to direct Paramount and MTV Films' "Aeon Flux," the live-action feature version of MTV's futuristic cable series based on the animated show about an acrobatic superheroine who is the top agent in an underground organization.
