A superior adaptation that bypasses the Ann Reinking version now on Broadway.
Read the full reviewThe movie is a total blast, and what a surprise.
Read the full reviewNot since the 1972 'Cabaret' has there been a movie musical this stirring, intelligent and exciting.
Read the full reviewMore than any other example in recent memory, Chicago shows how much the element of surprise is missing from today's movies.
Read the full reviewIsn't just the most explosively entertaining movie musical in a couple of decades. It's going to be the most influential: the one that inspires the rebirth of the Hollywood musical.

Read the full reviewFreshly transplanted from the stage, is a thrilling ode to the intertwined glories of sex, showmanship, and lying: what the film calls ''the old razzle-dazzle.''
Read the full reviewWho would have expected Ms. Zellweger --- and Miramax -- to come through in a musical? And it's one of the few Christmas entertainments to run under two hours. Who couldn't love that?
Read the full reviewThe movie is a dazzling song and dance extravaganza, with just enough words to support the music and allow everyone to catch their breath between songs.
Read the full reviewFirst-time feature director Rob Marshall and Oscar-winning "Gods and Monsters" screenwriter Bill Condon have spun the dark tale of two murdering floozies into a widely palatable entertainment, but the long-gestating film comes up short in rhythm and personality.
Read the full reviewIt's Zeta-Jones who keeps you watching from start to finish -- You'd have to go back to Joan Crawford in her hungry prime, in films like "Rain" and "The Women," to find another female film star who grabs hold of the screen with such ferocity.

Not great nor Best-Picture
"The only problem I have with Chicago,is I never felt like dancing, and I really didn't think this was a feel good movie. The reason is because when you get right down to it,the movie is pretty bleak, everyone's in jail. The only time I thought it was a feel-good movie was when Catherine sang All That Jazz, and the final musiczal number on stage.Other than that,I don't know why everyone raved and went so crazy about this movie,it's kind of talky, the performances redeem the movie.Sure it may have been the only stand out in the Best-Picture race, but that was missing Talk to Her,a far superior Almodovar movie, but any other year,Chicago wouldn't even have a hope at winning the Best-Picture.I also think Dreamgirls is way more enjoyable than Chicago,I actually danced during Dreamgirls, but not Chicago."
My Favorite Movie
"This is definitly my favorite movie. It is a wonderful musical in which Catherine Zeta-Jones captures her audience with her wicked and at the same time innocent performance."
A Great Movie
"Its a awesome when its dark and funny. Even though I didn't enjoy the songs, I know they were extremely well done. Richard Gere was awesome, and so was Zeta-jones and Latifa. I think the court scene was amazing, and the sets were awesome. I'm probably gonna buy it sometime soon, and i'm cheap, so that's sayin something."
EXCELLENT
"I JUST WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, ALLTHE ACTORS DID A BANG-UP JOB, ESPECIALLY RICHARD GERE AND CATHERINE, LOVE IT, LOVE IT AND LOVE IT. ONE OF THE BEST"

"this movie is great. the dancing and the singing is incredible. all the actors in the movie were triple threats. We already knew that they could act but that they could dance and sing too was suprising. I own the DVD and i think it was worth every cent. I personally love musicals but some of my friends who don't even loved it too. So go rent it because its a fun movie and even more fun live on broadway!"
Great Movie
"I never liked musical...until Chicago. It was a wonderful movie with great songs and characters. I can't wait to see it in New York on broadway!"
If you like musicals
"I didn't really care for this movie. I am on the fence when it comes to musicals, some I like alot and some I can live without. This one I could definitely live without. It was like watching the drama club from high school after they grew up."
