Captures Los Angeles in a straightforward, naturalistic way, neighborhood-hopping like a native.
Read the full reviewA respectable caper movie in the tradition of "The Sting" and David Mamet's "Heist."
Read the full reviewJust as exciting and socially vivid as Bielinsky's. Yet, somehow it's more stressful. The American characters practically sweat desperation.
Read the full reviewEven with its tepid lead performance, Criminal is a clever and diverting caper film. At least, it is as long as you don't think too hard about it.
Read the full reviewThe main reason to see Criminal isn't for the mental workout it might offer but simply to watch these two appealing performers act and act and act.
Read the full reviewReilly and Luna make a chemically appealing screen team. Reilly, one of the best working actors in the indie side of things, is wonderfully world-weary, manipulative and roguishly charming.
Read the full reviewThe performances are winning -- Gyllenhaal is particularly sharp as an aggrieved sibling, and there's mutual zing in her scenes with Reilly.
Read the full reviewThe casting falters on every level compared with Queens.
Read the full reviewSince you have probably not seen "Nine Queens," Criminal will be new to you, and I predict you'll like the remake about as much as I liked the original -- three stars' worth. If, however, you've seen "Nine Queens," you may agree that some journeys, however entertaining, need only be taken once.
Read the full reviewAlthough Criminal retains its source material's cleverness and intricate plotting, something seems to have been lost in the translation.
Read the full reviewMore a tribute than a remake, Steven Soderbergh-approved take on Argentine hit "Nine Queens" isn't quite as sharp or surprising as the original, one of the best scam pics of the past decade.
Read the full reviewThe problems lie not with the actors but with a glib approach that exposes the flaws of the original story.
Read the full reviewHere's the problem: The movie was made just four years ago by Argentinian director Fabian Bielinsky. It is called "Nine Queens," and it is vastly superior to this blah U.S. remake from director Gregory Jacobs.

wonderful movie
"It was one of the best movies that I have seen all year."
LOVE IT
"I REALLY LOVED IT IT WAS A DIFFERENT MOVIE, REALISTIC NOT LIKE THE ACTION MOVIES THAT THEY ARE SO FAKE, AND DIEGO IS A CUTIE PIE"
A Great Twist
"Absolutely loved it. Reilly is true to his craft. Luna very convincing. Would love to see Reilly nominated for an Oscar. Will see it again."
loved it
"i loved this movie, the ending was great and diego is very hot."
Definately Worth Seeing
"My fiance and I arrived at the movie theatre at which time the only movie we could see was Criminal, neither one of us had even heard of it. What luck! This movie was truly a breath of fresh air, it was a thought provoking movie with an ending no one would imagine. Funny at times, and interesting throughout (a little slow in the beggining but not to worry because once it picks up it really rolls). A movie that actually makes you think but isn't so complex that is hard to follow. I'm the emotional drama type and my fiance is the action packed alpha male type and we both loved this movie (although there was none of either in this flick). Go see this movie!"
Just Okay
"This movie was no big deal. It was a little confusing. Not for kids."
