11/21/06The powerful team of director Tony Scott, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Denzel Washington will wade into the holiday film fray with their Disney-released sci-fi thriller "Deja Vu" in over 3,100 playdates this weekend, but they'll be duking it out with two tough-looking holdovers, "Happy Feet" and "Casino Royale."
Scott revisits 'Deja Vu'
10/19/05It really is "Deja Vu" all over again. Just when it looked like plans for the Touchstone/Jerry Bruckheimer action thriller might be falling apart, director Tony Scott has come back aboard the project, and the production is eyeing an early February start - probably in New Orleans, its original location. The Denzel Washington starrer becomes the first major film to commit to shooting in the Big Easy since Hurricane Katrina devastated the region and left the city a waterlogged ghost town. A spokesman for Scott said that the return to New Orleans lured him back to the project.
'Deja Vu' anew as director exits
10/04/05Director Tony Scott has departed the Touchstone Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer thriller "Deja Vu." A spokesman for Scott said his decision to leave was strictly the result of logistical and scheduling problems that arose after Hurricane Katrina swamped New Orleans, the film's key location. Despite Scott's departure, which became official the same day the movie was originally scheduled to begin shooting, Disney and Bruckheimer said they're solidly behind the project, and star Denzel Washington remains attached, pending approval of a script and director. The start date for the movie has been pushed back to mid- or late January, however, to provide prep time for the new director.
