Critic Reviews
Cinema's natural felicities for time and action have seldom felt as beautifully dovetailed.
Read the full reviewWhat is interesting is not how little sense Déjà Vu makes but how little that matters. If you want your films to add up logically, you're welcome to take your calculator somewhere else. But if you do, you will be missing out on some first-class genre fun.
Read the full reviewUnlike the last Scott-Washington matchup, "Man on Fire," Deja Vu boasts a muscular, fast-forward story that won't be overwhelmed by Scott's need for speed in the form of rapid cuts and all that visual fusion that have become his stylistic trademark. Here, the approach is perfectly suited to the picture's time-shifting, multitasking structure.
Read the full reviewDenzel Washington plays Denzel Washington, good cop. This isn't a great performance, but Washington wasn't brought in to show off his acting chops.
Read the full reviewYou aren't likely to see a more ludicrous movie for the rest of the year. But rarely has such ludicrousness been used to pay tribute to a town in need of love. Déjà Vu is generic enough to have been filmed anywhere. But it happens to be set in post-Katrina New Orleans.
Read the full reviewDéjà Vu is pretty dazzling, as action adventures go, even when it's wildly, almost defiantly, implausible. Movies can make us semi-believe the damnedest things.
Read the full reviewRarely have Bruckheimer and Scott been so upfront about insulting people's intelligence.
Read the full reviewDéjà Vu is watchable trash, meticulously edited in Scott's skip-stutter style, but there's something ultimately unsatisfying about a thriller that more or less makes up its rules as it goes along.
Read the full reviewA needlessly complicated and confusing thriller.
Read the full reviewDéjà Vu cannot escape the weight of its murky science, action-film formula and preposterous ending.
Read the full reviewThe joke of it is, for all the pricey bangs and booms, the whiplash cinematography and the editing that turns film space into cubistic tableaux, a Bruckheimer-and-Scott partnership is only as good as its screenplay, and this one is a mess.
Read the full reviewAfter 9/11, few of us look at terrorist acts casually. It's insulting to watch this grandiloquent pornography, using shock value and Hollywood cliche to evoke poignancy.

Physics to the Rescue
"One of the best movies I have seen. Denzel brings to life science fiction !"
Deja Vu Good!
"I saw it the first day it come out.I was with my cousin and I didn't really want to watch it. I was blown away by the action sequences. After watching it I wanted to see more and get the dvd. I finally got the dvd and still was blown away."
B-O-R-I-N-G
"Could have done without the nudity scenes too!"
Will There Be A Part 2
"I really liked the movie plot from beginning to end, (could have done without the extra violence and nudity scenes)however, I need to know is there going to be a part 2 because there are alot of unanswered questions. For instance, when Denzel was hit head on by the Transfer Truck...the terriost seemed to have known that was going to happen. Also, at the end, when he said he knew what his destiny was and when he was about to die said "It wasn't supposed to happen this way," it seemed to me that somehow he had techology or had been there in the future to know( or thought he knew) what was supposed to happen already.I need to know some answers. My mind is frying right now."
One of the Best
"This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Capitvating. Fantastic acting. Awesome plot."
it was no good
"Hard to follow and complicated for the sake of complication. I go to the movies to be have a good time ,not to figure out puzzles....oh this is a flashback this part even though its at the begining is actually the ending ,..like that I will say this movie makes you think. Its like putting together something that requires construction " Put tab"
Deja Vu
"Although I was a little disappointed with this movie I still liked the acting in the movie. The plot was hard to figure out and the movie was confusing. This wasn't one of my favorite movies for the year."
GREAT SCIENCE FICTION!
"This will only be the first opening in an excellent Science Fiction series. The movie is full of twists and turns and I am anxious to see it again on DVD. Denzel is smart and only makes first rate films. How soon can we expect a sequal? A great rainy day movie. RR"
THE BEST MOVIE THIS YEAR
"I JUST SAW DEJA VU TODAY AND I WAS SO ENTERTAINED. I THINK THAT THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE THAT I'VE SEEN ALL YEAR. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THIS MOVIE IS AVAILABLE ON DVD. DENZEL WAS GREAT. I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED ABOUT THE 4 DAYS IN THE PAST THING BUT I LOVED IT."
A film to enjoy, not analyze
"A whole lot of fun with a nicely conceived venier of cool, pseudo-science thrown in. The movie is basically an action version of "somewhere in time." Not H.G. Wells. Over all, I really enjoyed it. Nice one-hand-tied-behind-my-back acting by Denzel and a good complementary supporting cast for him. If you enjoy just watching Denzel do his thing on film, as I do, this is a pleasent experience. Not a career milestone for him by any stretch, but a very nice film. A good date movie."
