Would be a mindless action picture, except that it has a mind. It doesn't do a lot of deep thinking, but unlike many futuristic combos of sf and f/x, it does make a statement:

Fun movie
"ok, when I started this movie, I had no idea what to think because I heard it compared to the Matrix which didn't impress me in the least. But surprisingly I thought it was a lot of fun with an interesting plot that kept my attention even if it was a little cliche. It had a few tacky spots that made Preston look retarded like, now that he's feeling, he has no idea of how to handle his emotions. The biggest worst one was when he collapsed and started crying on the ground (I won't ruin it and say when. He only does that once in the movie thank god) lol so I can't say it's the best. But it's forgivable. Its certainly not as bad as critics make it sound. 4 out of 5 stars. Christian Bale rocks."

"A good movie. I actually like watching this one, very different. A good story, understandable acting, and enjoyable fight scenes! I would recommend that renting is good for this one."

Futuristic and Reality
"The story line is one that has been used before yes we no that, but with the action an action scenes and the reality that this world type domination is some what possible with todays political state this movie is more reality than the Matrix or Gattaca, or any of the sci-fi movies that have followed. If you look closely the Government is trying to make people less emotional and sensetive to things everyday. Yes I no that Equilibrium is a little extreme but it could and can be happening as we speak. If a better crew would have been assembled for this script along with Bale he could have riveled Tom Cruise for one of the years best action movies."

Great Movie
"This movie is definitely for the smart person. People who share in political, historical, or anthropological interests will love this movie. It follows an Ann Rayne theme; a socialist society deprived of individuality and emotions regain an “ego.” It was absolutely fantastic."
Thrilling and Exciting
"Equilibrium was one of the most exciting movies I have seen in a while. Critics prove once again to be lost in their own world when it comes to being entertained. When Bale's character first heard music in the forbidden room you could see pain in his eyes and amazement to the sounds he was hearing for the first time in his life. The action and fight scenes were super. I have never seen a gun kata before and was blown away by the excitement of it. That was a first and it was fresh and new. I don't think anyone has ever included anything like it in a movie before. I enjoy it more each time I see it and I have to watch it every time it comes on TV. If you want to know I have seen it about a dozen times and am drawn in every time to the pace of it. If Bale puts this much effort into Batman, and I am sure he will. It could be one of the best Batman films ever. Michael Rowland, NC age 50 and still feel like a kid. Some times."
