For those who have gotten their Harry Potter fix entirely through the cinematic incarnation, the script is lucid and fast-moving.
Read the full reviewThe special effects continue to be masterful, but villains are given a new twist, and Order of the Phoenix is all the more fun because of it.
Read the full reviewThe flourishes don't answer the question most on Potterites' minds -- who lives, who dies? -- but they briefly stupefy.
Read the full reviewScreenwriter Michael Goldenberg and director David Yates have transformed J.K. Rowling's garrulous storytelling into something leaner, moodier and more compelling, that ticks with metronomic purpose as the story flits between psychological darkness and cartoonish slapstick.
Read the full reviewDarker, leaner, less expansive , and meaner, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is all business, and it casts a spell utterly unlike the first four films.
Read the full reviewThe movie is brisk and lively, if not exactly action-packed.
Read the full reviewConsiderably grimmer and grittier than the previous pictures.
Read the full reviewA sleek, swift and exciting adaptation of J. K. Rowling?s longest novel to date.
Read the full reviewSave for the thrilling opening sequence, there's not much to remember about the film beyond Staunton (Vera Drake), who masks her bottomless malevolence behind a pasted-on patrician smile.
Read the full reviewWhatever happened to the delight and, if you'll excuse the term, the magic in the "Harry Potter" series? As the characters grow up, the stories grow, too, leaving the innocence behind and confusing us with plots so labyrinthine that it takes a Ph.D from Hogwarts to figure them out.
Read the full reviewDirector David Yates, who is new to the Potter franchise, moves the story along briskly, at the expense of texture and nuance.
Read the full review"Phoenix" might go down as the problematic film, full of plot but little fun.
Read the full reviewTaken as a motion picture, the new "Harry" comes up short. But taken as a visual aid to the experience of reading a book, the new "Harry" does its job.
Read the full reviewIt finally can't transcend the limitations inherent in being no more than a way station in an epic journey, a journey whose cinematic conclusion is several years away.

HP and the OOTP
"I'd have to say, that the screenwriter did a sucking job. He made the film too short! Mom told me all the parts left out. Ron and Hermione become prefects, the fight scenes were supposed to be longer, I mean, the screenwriter did a horrible job. Although, i'd have to admit, some scenes were cool. Usually when you see the movie a couple more times, it doesn't seem to be that bad anymore. I still wish the movie was longer."

"Too much confusion. the film jumped from subject to subject without connection. The films need Chris Columbus to direct to keep the scenes connected. No more films like this one."
Harry Potter 5
"It was as usual awesome in its effects but had way too many gaps in the storyline.I read the book and the movie just left out too much for me to handle. The movie went too fast the producers should have made it much longer."
hmmm (again)
"I think that this has been the best so far.....but having been my favorite book, it just wasn't that that great. If you haven't read the books, than it is a fantastic movie, it's just that they left a lot of important stuff/characters out! But all in all, good movie, definitely worth seeing (even at midnight when it came out! ;D)"
HARRYS GIRL

"it was excellent i like the new directors style was good also before i watched the movie in theathers i read the book they miss alot of important and some smaller facts but you can only fit so much in one movie but i do agree that it should have been longer and i cant wait until the next one the half blod prince comes out probaly sometime next christmas."
Great!!
"I enjoyed this movie. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Will Smith is an amazing actor and it definitely shows in this movie. It was money well spent. The diseased (not zombies) made the movie action-packed. It was an intense movie that i would go and see again!"
woow!
"As a movie alone I thought it was amazing!I really enjoed watching it, I thought it was a great follow up to the forth one and I hope the sixth one is even better (if its possible)"
