Letters from Iwo Jima News
Clint's 'Letters' coming early
11/15/06Warner Bros. is moving up the release date of Clint Eastwood's Japanese-language "Letters From Iwo Jima" -- the companion pic to "Flags of Our Fathers" -- from Feb. 9 to Dec. 20. New frame puts "Letters" up for awards consideration, with Warners planning to make the film available to critics groups and guilds in its limited run.
WB sets 'Iwo' opening
10/12/06"Letters From Iwo Jima," Clint Eastwood's ambitious companion piece to "Flags of Our Fathers," has been dated and stamped. Warner Bros. Pictures will open the Japanese-language film in the U.S. on Feb. 9. Move ends plenty of speculation as to how much time Eastwood would allow between "Flags" -- which Paramount/DreamWorks bows domestically on Oct. 20 -- and "Letters."
'Flags' will take Tokyo
07/31/06Clint Eastwood's WWII pic "Flags of Our Fathers" will open the 19th Tokyo Film Festival on Oct. 21, fest organizers announced Monday. Movie is one of a pair Eastwood is helming about the battle against the Japanese for the island of Iwo Jima -- one told from the American perspective ("Flags"), the other from the Japanese POV ("Red Sun, Black Sand"). DreamWorks and Warner Bros. partner on both; "Flags" opens in the U.S. on Oct. 20, but no release date has yet been set for "Red Sun."
