Heartwarming, gutwrenching and hilarious!
"When I first started watching this movie, I thought ok, another movie about a struggling couple who fights over about everyday issues, blah blah blah, loves and hates each other, etc etc then BAM.. within in 10 minutes I was in tears but then within a minute of crying, I was laughing!! The best thing about this move is that it pulls at all of your emotions one way or another. This movie is definitely not for guys but I am sure the guy in your life may like it, if he has an open mind. Lisa Kudrow and her sidekick there bring the much needed comic relief to the table. I just think this is a GREAT story and it was portrayed very well! And yes, I agree Hillary Swank can't really play off pretty and cute and girly because of her past rolls, but check out the next to last scene of the movie when she runs to her mom's bar and breaks down. It was a sad moment for her but at the same time, you knew she was letting go finally! All in all, mkudos, thumbs up, great for a good cry and good laugh!"

"This movie was not the best I have ever seen, actually far from. To me, it was unromantic and depressing. How romantic can it be when your husband dies and your chasing his memory with letters that will eventually stop. All in all this movie was nothing that I was expecting and even though it made me cry [most of the time] and laugh [a small portion of the time] it wasn't what it should have been. I was highly disappointed in this movie all together. I vote dont waste the 9 dollars to go see it or definately the twenty to go buy it!"

"P.S. I love you is one of the good romantic comedies I've seen in a very long time. Hilary Swank delivered such charming, yet compelled performances, she really made the role of Holly so convincing as a griefing widow who goes through these letters that gave her so much hope in the end to live continueously. Gerald Butler is charming, yet funny, and suave, And Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also charming and Harry Conneck Jr also was charming too. PS I loved the movie for its heart, and warmth feeling while watching this film. From start to ********** was entertaining."

"This is by far one of the best love stories I have ever encountered. MY friends and I went to see it together and I had extreme difficulty fighting the streams of tears coming from my eyes. I thought the casting was wonderful and it was truly an original idea. Its not about the initial idea of getting over a loved one, its about journeying and struggling with the main character (swank) through the process of doing so. I loved it and I can't wait to buy it when it comes out on video."

Why the HUGE discrepency between critics and User reviews..??
"I haven't seen this movie but often wonder why there are such differences between the reviews by those who get paid to review vs. those that don't. Perhaps the professionals need to find a real job, since most of the public thinks their opinions are wacko most all the time and therefore don't go by what they recommend, or not."
The best movie
"Ive never walked out of movie with a whole differant out look on life before. Its been two weeks and even my marriage has been given a fresh out look. I cant wait to see it again . Once I see a movie it doesnt bother me if I ever see it again ,I have seen it twice and want to buy it on DVD Hilary rocked in the movie and so did everyone else. IF you are capable of loving someone you will love this movie."

"this is a movie that makes you stop and think. in this busy, hectic world people, myself included, rarely stop to appreciate the small things. im not one to cry during movies, but i bawled like a baby. and i LOVE gerard butler. he is such a great actor and very cute :) i also thought hilary swank did a wonderful job. her grief was extremely believable. i would definitely see it againk, and hopefully not bawl through the whole thing this time. :)"
Good movie
"This was a very well acted movie . . . but it made us cry.I'd give it 3 1/2 stars. Hilary was excellent in this movie.I wouldn't rent it; I wouldn't see it again but I'm glad i saw it once."

"Okay, I went to the movie all excited with my box of Kleenex in one hand and a bag of popcorn in the other. I was ready to be blown away. I only felt a small breeze. I think the editing department messed this movie up or something it had the potential to be great but didn't make it. Not being given the opportunity to care about the characters was the biggest shortfall."
Wow to Gerard
"Great movie with Hilary and Gerard...but how have I missed him all of these years. His smile captured my heart and after checking his bio, saw he starred in Phantom of the Opera... rewatched the DVD...what a voice! Quite a contrast to his role in 300. He has come to the top of the list of my favorite actors....can't wait to see his next movie."
It was Okay, I expected more...
"The movie was okay. I expected more. You can't deny that the story line was about starting over after a love one has died but I thought they would have kept it in the true essence of the book but they didn't. I didn't even shed a tear. The funny parts were cuteand I thought it was wonderful of her husband to write to her even after he was gone to help her overcome her grief but I guess I'm bias because I read the book first and then saw the movie. The cast was good and overall I would give this movie a 7 out of 10. Wait for the video not worth $11.25 (NYC price). Sorry I couldn't say more. Get the book it's way better."
On the Mark
"My friend and I, both of us lost our men to cancer, felt the feelings and actions displayed by Hilary Swank's character were right on the mark. We could relate to most of what she was experiecing and how she handled things. It may appear over done to some, but to us, it was reality.Great movie - the ending, of course, was a bit fairy tale-ish, but still fun. Also, it could happen."
Stuffy over-paid critics!

"I'm in love....with this movie!! It has a great story line and message, not to metion the CAST!!! They are amazing. I think it is a wonderful movie. Everyone should see it. The critics are so bitter, they need to learn to have fun at the movies and relax. AND.....no it is NOT a chick flick! My dad saw the trailer when it first came out and said he wanted to see it. Plus, there were men who went to see it. I think the movie is one of the amazing ones that touch you and leave you thinking. They only come around every once and awile. P.S. P.S. I Loved It!
"This movie was sweet, charming, bittersweet, funny and hours. The cinematography was just gorgeous, I had doubts about Hilary Swank in the lead, but she really "grew on me" as the movie progressed, and Gerard Butler...sighhhh. The critics have really missed the mark recently--with "August Rush", "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" and yes, with "P.S. I Love You." It was well done, and not just a "chick flick" judging from the men laughing in the theatre. I definitely recommend!"
