Searing, heartbreaking, so intense it turns your body into a single tube of clenched muscle, this is simply the greatest war movie ever made, and one of the great American movies.

Oscar outrage

""Saving Private Ryan" has so many truly great elements, it should be considered the finest war drama ever filmed. For it to lose the Best Picture oscar to a film like "Shakespeare in Love" is one of the most remarkable travesties in oscar history!"
