May be the most intimate documentary ever made about a live rock 'n' roll concert. Certainly it has the best coverage of the performances onstage.

Shine a Light may not be the last Rolling Stones movie, but it's likely to be the last one with a touch of the poet about it.

The genius of Scorsese's film, which is being shown in IMAX in 93 theaters, is that it reveals the Stones' mortality while celebrating all that makes them more than mere mortals.

Martin Scorsese?s energetic account of a Stones concert at Gotham?s Beacon Theater in fall 2006 takes full advantage of heavy camera coverage and top-notch sound to create an invigorating musical trip down memory lane, as well as to provoke gentle musings on the wages of aging and the passage of time.

The Hollywood Reporter | Kirk Honeycutt

The film does not stand up to the current crop of music/concert films like "U2 3D," which brilliantly uses 3-D to show the Irish band in concert so as to encapsulate its relationship to its fans, each other and their own music, and "CSNY: Deja Vu," which hones in on the political connection Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young have to their music.

I Got SATISFACTION !

"Did not go in with expecting much. What are you going to show me that I haven't seen before ? Thankfully, I was caught off guard in a good way. I was taken out of my seat by force and pushed up on stage with the old guys turned young again. They made me young again ! Keith Richards is exposed as the genius that he is . Move over Godfather, Mick Jagger is the hardest working man in show business. Martin, you are a visionary magic man. Can't wait to see it again. Thanks for the explosion of raw talent meets in your face rock 'n roll.MORE ! MORE ! ! !"

Shine a Light Rocks!

"Loved this movie! I saw it at an Imax Theater which gave it more impact. Showed Keith Richards vulnerable side. "She was Hot" got me all fired up. Buddy Guy was just amazing!"

Stones/Scorcese Synergy Rocks

"There are those who get 'it' and those who never will. Gimme shelter from those who don't.We mourn for those poor souls who are incapable of transcending into that altered state, that "zone" that the Stones (and Scorsese) pull us. As if you have lost your sense of smell in a French bakery, or lost your vision while on the beach in Ipanema. One can only feel sad. As to the Stones, there is still no other band that comes close to their energy and talent. And as to Jagger, name one front-man that even comes close to all that he does, all that he has been, and all that he is. Bono? wha? Bon Jovi?..come on..seriously. And thank you Martin Scorsese. You rock."
