'Pirates' box office bags Monday record
07/11/06A record-setting wind continued to fill the sails of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" on Monday, indicating the pic could show strong (sea) legs after its boffo bow. Disney's swashbuckling sequel grossed $18.1 million Monday, shattering the previous nonholiday Monday benchmark of $14.4 million set by "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" last year.
