The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian News
Disney delays 'Narnia' follow-up
05/16/06"The Water Horse" is in and "Narnia" is out for December 2007. Citing extra time needed for production, Disney has delayed "Prince Caspian," the follow-up to December's hugely successful "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" from December 2007 to summer 2008. Holiday 2007 won't be without a family fantasy tentpole, however, as Sony has dated "The Water Horse," another epic based on a kids novel that is being shot in New Zealand, for Dec. 8, 2007, a week before "Caspian" was previously set to open.
'Narnia' helmer is back
02/01/06Andrew Adamson has signed to direct "Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," the sequel to the Walt Disney Pictures/Walden Media holiday hit "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." Adamson, who will also produce, will write the sequel script with Christopher Markus and Steve McFeeley, two of the original's writers. The studio and Walden hope to begin production late this year for a Christmas 2007 release. As with new installments of the Harry Potter franchise, there is extra pressure in ramping up sequels before the young stars get too old for the parts. Writing has begun and the first sketching has begun in production design, but Adamson said his priority is to make sure the sequel does the 1951 book justice.
