Several shades darker in tone than the previous edition -- which, to be fair, didn't carry the burden of expectation that a sequel must bear -- the return to Narnia still casts a transporting spell.
Read the full reviewCloser to a straight-ahead medieval battle picture than the fantastical, other-worldly journey depicted in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," this new entry is a bit darker, more conventional and more crisply made than its 2005 predecessor.
Read the full reviewAs portrayed by William Moseley, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley and especially Anna Popplewell as Susan, the Pevensies still make for terrific tween protagonists, and Aslan, the majestic mythical lion voiced by Liam Neeson, is still a breathtaking manifestation of the Cat Upstairs.
Read the full reviewThe film's pronounced split between violence and softness notwithstanding, Prince Caspian is finally a more polished effort than "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and squarely in the tradition of the kind of teenage movies the Disney organization used to make before teens discovered horror and gore.
Read the full reviewAn exhilarating fantasy adventure marred only by its length and protracted climactic battle scenes.
Read the full reviewTake away the storming music and grand vistas, and it's all a standard sword-and-sorcery adventure; director Andrew Adamson is more than a journeyman but much less than the visionary Peter Jackson is.
Read the full reviewOverall, while not as strong in terms of plotting or character development, Prince Caspian is nevertheless a better cinematic experience than its predecessor, if only because it feels more confident and polished.
Read the full reviewThey may make for clunky religious parables, but the Narnia books--and so far, the movies based on them--are wonderful as stories about childhood and its loss.
Read the full reviewQuite a bit darker than "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," both in look and in mood. It is also in some ways more satisfying.
Read the full reviewIn total effect, Prince Caspian feels a lot more earthbound than "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."
Read the full reviewJunkies for dark humor should prep for going cold turkey, despite the efforts of director Andrew Adamson to spice things up with combat and a rivalry between Caspian and Peter (good on Moseley for showing some backbone) that Lewis never imagined.
Read the full reviewI wish I could be more enthusiastic about Prince Caspian, an honorable and attractive adventure for children and families. But scenic beauty and spirited action can't conceal its dramatic defects.
Read the full reviewUltimately, it's an absence of personality that does the film in. The creatures remain beautifully designed and Narnia still looks like a colorful, inviting place, but it feels as lifeless as the fantastical anyworlds found on glittery unicorn posters.
Read the full reviewExactly one minute longer than its predecessor, but it's a dragged-out exercise, with no epic scale and no spirit worth talking about.

Vampyire????????????????
"I read all the books right before the first movie came out and I thought the first movie was a great adaptation of the Book, The few changes seemed to be well placed and mostly to replace descriptive things from the book. This second film was a great Film though I don't remember Peter struggling with adjusting to life back in our world. That being said as always I think the Movie was very well done and told the nessecary storyline from the book with the most incredible visual affects I have ever seen, all the Mythological creatures look real and the Live actors interaction with them was stupendous. All the actors did a great job, as as far as Lucy not being an important charector I find that notion as absurd as Vampires...Lucy was awesome and as essential to the story as Peter...."
EXCELLENT! - Better than ...Wardrobe
"I wasn't impressed with L,W,"
FANTASTIC
"This is what movies should be like...great characters, amazing scenery, and a fantastic storyline that keeps your attention all the way through. Not to mention great battle scenes and attention to detail. If folks don't like it, it is probably because they have (1) never read Chronicles of Narnia, or (2) would rather watch SAW or some other mindless splatter movie. I am a parent of four, we went as a family, and everyone, including 3 teenagers, one middle schooler and two adults loved the movie. Go see it."
AMAZING Keep em comming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Thank you for exeding our expectations !!!! keep em comming !! we will be there for all of them !! THANK YOU"
Better Than Indiana!!!!
"I am 54 years old and although I love the character Harrison Ford plays in his latest Indiana chronicle, I enjoyed this movie more than the latest Ford movie. I thought it was superbly done, the acting was excellent given the young age of the actors and the scenery just makes you want to travel to New Zealand more than anywhere else in the world. It was enjoyable all the way thru."
I HAVENT SEE IT YET...
"IS IT WORTH IT ? SHOULD I WAIT FOR THE DVD ? FROM THE SOUND OF ALL THE REVIEWS ARE FROM CHILDREN ( MAYBE A FEW ADULTS YOUNG AT HEART) BUT WHATS THE REAL DEAL WITH THE MOVIE 2 THUMBS UP OR 2 MIDDLE FINGERS UP PLEASE ANSWER THIS FOR ME"
Worth it
"I really didn't wnat to go to the first movie but realized I was dead wrong. I knew I was going to see this one but wasn't overly motivated. Again dead wrong. This movie was great. Very entertaining and well cast. After watching this one I went home and watched the original on DVD and checked out the blooper reel."
Don't wait for the DVD to come out go to the cinema
"I know you always wait for the DVD to save money. But if you are ever going splurge this is the one movie I recommend. The cinematography is spectacular. Your breath will be taken away by the beauty of the hills, valleys, mountains, beaches, rivers, trees, flowers of Narnia. The characters are even more fetching than they were in the first movie. For Narnia. For Aslan. Please see this movie in the cinema."
Way Better than the First
"Prince Caspian is better than the first movie in almost every aspect, and the story is great and has great references to Christianity. There's more action and battle scenes than the first and characters are funny and likable. Definitely see this movie, better than the first."
