Although the combination of his sensibilities and Miss Walker's amounts to a colossal mismatch, Mr. Spielberg's Color Purple manages to have momentum, warmth and staying power all the same.

My Favorite Movie
"I was 8 years old when I saw The Color Purple. I had never even met a person of color before. I still have the origional VHS and watch it often. Celie's reverance for life amid such turmoil and confusion and her amazing faith "I'll take care of you, with God's help", is more than inspiring. Church? This movie taught me so much about a true relationship with God. When Shug is walkind down the road, singing, testifying, I still get goosebumps and cry. I often wonder what God is trying to tell me. A beautiful and wonderful accomplishment of Alice Walker, cast and crew, all true visionaries. 100 stars!!!"

Drama!
"This movie is amazing- it sculpted a whole new exploding career for Danny Glover, Oprah Winfrey, and Whoopi Goldberg. The imagination it took to have to get into all three of those characters heads and become them must have been difficult, and those three actors pulled it off beautifully!! Simply amazing, powerful and unforgettable. It's a life learning movie. It has such moving and powerful messages in it. I can live and die by some of the messages in this movie. I reccomend it to ALL!!"
